Está disponível para download o Gcompris. Trata-se de um conjunto de programas educativos voltados para educação infantil e fundamental I . Construído com a função de abranger diversas áreas do conhecimento, o programa é um grande atrativo para as crianças devida a boa aplicação visual imposta por seu conjunto de aplicativos.
O Gcompris está disponível para as plataformas GNU/Linux e Windows. A Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina matém uma página WIKI onde explica o projeto Gcompris, o projeto, as funcionalidades do programa e algumas dicas de como trabalhar com os alunos em sala de aula utilizando o Gcompris.
Um alerta deve ser feito aos interessados em baixar o Gcompris na versão "for windows". No site do projeto Gcompris/pt - colaboradores responsáveis por sua tradução e melhorias - é informado que, para estimular o uso da plataforma Livre Linux, a versão proprietária "inclui uma limitação das atividades propostas".
